BOWDITCH SELLS OUT HER NATIONAL ‘WINTER SECRETS’ TOUR, ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL DATES AND A HAS SPECIAL NOTE FOR YOU!

The Clare Bowditch ‘Winter Secrets’ tour featuring Clare in solo mode, performing an intimate evening of songs and stories has proven to be a wonderful formula. Having sold out all her shows last weekend on the opening weekend of the tour and with this weekend’s shows in Wollongong and Sydney also sold out, Clare’s loyal fans are reveling in the new show.

The ‘Winter Secrets’ competition which is enabling lucky winners a rare opportunity to perform live with Clare has been a huge success with hundreds of entries and some very special performances….

Here is what Clare has to say:

I am now four-shows into the Winter Secrets tour around Australia.
Thank you, thank you, thank you – so far it has been mind-blowing and soul-restoring. I was incredibly nervous about this tour (about being on my own, completely exposed on stage with new songs, new instruments, new stories) and yet the exceptionally involved audiences at each show have made sure I have come off feeling alive and filled up and brimming over with the enjoyment of being back on stage. Honestly, it has been wonderful. One of the greatest things about these shows have been the random collaborations I’ve been having on stage with the winners of the Winter Secrets Comp – people I’ve never met before that day, getting up there on stage with me, over-whelming us all with their skill and bravery. Viola, melodica, guitar, banjo, and of course voice; this is the landscape so far. And we have all felt the generosity of each audience; people have been joining in with us in ways that have been making Tim and I feel “Wow – we are lucky people”. The other day in Adelaide I completely forgot all the words to “Oranges”. I looked into the audience and saw a girl mouthing the words back to me. I stopped the song and said “Hey, how would you feel about coming up here and singing the song for me while I play guitar?” and to my joy she said “Sure!” And that’s how we met Angela. Wow; what a woman. The other major highlight?

Hot Little Hands in duo form (that’s Tim Harvey from the Feeding Set and his brother James). Standing in the audience in Ballarat on Friday night we overheard one young lady, to much agreeance, “Whoah. I’d go them in a minute”. It wasn’t the most PC of comments, but if you heard HLH on stage, and saw their costumes, you would forgive her. I reckon they might join me on Sunrise tomorrow morning. There’s a whole lot more theatre in this show than we were expecting. See you on the road. Love Clare x

Touring across the country with a brand new rollicking solo show throughout June and July, the ‘Winter Secrets Tour’ by Clare Bowditch promises intimate evenings of songs, stories and special guests, many of whom she is yet to meet; please see the Competitions page

Armed with guitars, loop pedals and an array of the world’s oddest instruments, these shows are a one off solo experiment that will see Clare performing far and wide across the country.

After an incredible summer of touring with John Butler and festival highlights including Blues and Falls festival with her wonderful band, the Feeding Set; these will be stripped back, straight from the heart, confronting and cheeky shows which will be remembered for marking a bold change in direction for Bowditch.

These will be Clare’s last shows for some time in Australia before she relocates to Berlin to pursue exciting European opportunities including intensive touring and an imminent album release. This tour will do more than keep you warm this winter.

Bowditch is thrilled to have a stripped-back version of her
favourite young act, Hot Little Hands (featuring Tim Harvey
of Feeding Set fame!) with her on the road, bringing their
fun filled rock and roll sound to the country. Expect to hear
tracks from their exciting new album, “Dynamite in B&W” which will be released this May.

Also Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane shows will feature
very special guest performances by the wonderful Old Man River.

Clare’s national support tour with JBT and the Waifs has been fantastic and extensive, covering huge amounts of ground both with and without the Feeding Set. It’s not over yet either, with a Day on the Green and the Wollongong Botanical Gardens providing stunning backdrops for more exciting shows next month. There are also the Blues and Roots festivals on the East and West Coasts, UNSW O’Week Entertainment and two very special shows in Victoria’s gorgeous Gippsland area. Peccadilloes is a finalist for the International Songwriting Competition ! Out of 15,000 entries across the whole world, we’re now down to the pointy end of proceedings and the song will be judged by a panel which includes Tom Waits, Robert Smith, Jerry Lee Lewis, Nelly Furtado among others. No idea what it means, but it sounds lovely and seems quite fitting as we bid farewell to an exceptional 07. Clare and everyone here at Feeding Central want to thank you for all the magic you’ve sent out way this year; it’s been a truly remarkable time for us and we feel so lucky to have had you along for the ride. We hope it’s been a wild and wonderful year for you also, and we wish you the very best for 2008.

Now it’s time to start the New Year with those two favourite institutions; a quiet lie-in and a vote in the Triple J Hottest 100 at www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/. Back on the radio, the TV and the road

Clare Bowditch never sits still for long, and following the recent release of her third album ‘The Moon Looked On’ she has embarked on a weekly Triple J radio show, filmed a ‘Live at the Chapel’ special and has announced she is back on the road as special guest with the John Butler Trio and The Waifs.

Bringing a different perspective to Sunday afternoons until the end of January, Clare with good friend and The Feeding Set band member Libby Chow will host a new Triple J show called ‘Lazy Sundays with Clare and Libby’ from 2pm.

Ahead of Christmas we will see Clare back on TV when she performs on the RockWiz Christmas Special on Saturday 22nd Dec at 9.20pm on SBS. Then on December 29 at noon, Channel 7 will broadcast Clare’s stunning ‘Live at the Chapel’ performance following Nova’s broadcast of it on December 23 and ahead of its MTV premiere on January 12.

Clare has recently returned from an overseas jaunt that saw her perform gigs in LA and Canada, and early next year she will be the special guest for select dates on the John Butler Trio and The Waifs ‘Union of Soul’ tour. You can see Clare Bowditch & The Feeding Set live on the following dates:

Festival Season Has Begun

Hello everyone! A quick update on news from the CB&FS camp and please see below for “A Word From Clare”!

Trackside, Groovin The Moo and Queenscliff Music Festivals were an excellent start to the festival season, and Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set impressed at each. Following that, last Tuesday night, competition winners were treated to an exciting, and very exclusive set at Chapel off Chapel which was mesmerising to say the least – the live set was streamed on www.vodafoneliveatthechapel.com and the show will also be broadcast on the Seven network on December 29th and on MTV in January.

Never one to rest on her laurels, Clare Bowditch was in LA on Monday night playing a very exciting showcase performance at the famous Knitting Factory. Then she headed north to her old stamping ground of Canada and is currently performing at Vancouver’s Transmission Festival – for more information, head to their website at http://www.transmitnow.com/.
Clare and Libby (the Feeding Set’s gorgeous Ms Chow) will also be wending their way into your Sunday afternoons each week on Triple J, as the hosts of the brand new, and aptly named ‘Lazy Sundays with Clare and Libby” program this summer – starting on December the 9th with special guests Dan Kelly and Claire Hooper. Tune in at 2pm every Sunday right through until the end of January and expect an eclectic and interesting range of topics, ideas and interviews. The show will also feature CLare and Libby performing a duet with their guest at the end of each show.

A word from Clare

“Ahoy there! Here I am, back in Vancouver (for three days only), and it is doing my head in – same same, but different. The show in L.A. last night went like a flash. It’s been such a big five years; this is my first visit back to this side of the world since I finished my studies here, and so very much has changed in my life since then. Yours too I bet. This is the city I taught myself to play guitar in, by busking and playing open mikes and staying up all night alone in my bedroom writing Autumn Bone. Now, two albums later, I’m back here with my guitar and a loop pedal that Mick Turner lent me (this is the town I first saw Dirty Three play in, believe it or not; actually, I interviewed them for the student newspaper in order to get my name on the door because I couldn’t afford a ticket!), performing a kind of experimental solo set in the hope that I can get back over here a whole lot more over the next two years. It is cold, but wonderful, and I am happy, but missing home. See you over the summer!”

Bowditch announces Corner Show

After braving the elements and delivering one of the most memorable album launches of their musical career at Chill Island on Cup Day, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set are thrilled to announce their final show in Melbourne for 2007. The band will perform at their favorite local venue, The Corner, on Tuesday December 18 with an array of wonderful guests including local future stars, Little Red.

The new record, “The Moon Looked On” has been receiving the strongest reviews of the bands stellar career and was recently short listed for the Melbourne Music prize and the EG award for best female artist.

The weather bureau has delivered the worst possible forecast for Sunday in South Gippsland including driving rain and gale forced winds. In the face of what could be a definite washout Chill Island has been moved to Tuesday Nov 6th – Melbourne Cup Day.

The forecast for Tuesday is fine weather and a beautiful day. You will still see the same line up of brilliant artists at the same time and in the same stunning location and we will even broadcast the Melbourne cup live on the PA.

“The Moon Looked On” available Saturday

This Saturday, October 13th 2007, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set’s “The Moon Looked On” will be available in all good shops (and online from the 16th of October). This will be a very special, very limited edition release; a rare double CD (it’s so big it looks like a book), featuring the newly unleashed album as it is, and then a second CD with “Campfire Versions” of exactly the same songs (just Clare and her guitar). Accompanied by Kat Macleod’s absolutely stunning album booklet (which includes a part-fact part-fiction essay which Clare wrote for Kat’s eyes only, but Kat found it so interesting she included it in the artwork), and a lyric sheet all of your own, we think you’re going to fall apart with how beautiful it all is.

Clare, Marty and the Feeding Set have put a whole lot of themselves into making what you will soon hear is a truly incredible, inventive, beautiful, racy album. We think you will agree, but we want to make sure you get to listen to it first, so later today, before the release, we’re putting four of the new songs up on Clare’s myspace page for you. We’re very proud of CB and the Feeding Set for creating this album; we feel that producer Marty Brown has gone one step further towards establishing himself as one of the countries most important producers. His work on this recording is outstanding and Bowditch continues to demonstrate why she is widely regarded among the finest lyricists and songwriters in Australia.

It’s been an exceptionally busy month for Clare and her sensational live band the Feeding Set. Since placing the finishing touches on their third album, “The Moon Looked On”, the band (including our über-producer Martin Brown) have pretty much just locked themselves in Clare’s new shed, in prep for the hectic touring schedule that will follow the release of the album on Saturday, October 13th, 2007.

The first single taken from the “The Moon Looked On” is called “When the Lights Went Down”. The song has been all over Triple J already and was added to 31 regional radio stations last week. The single is a brilliant step forward from past Bowditch singles, and the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. The stunning new “When the Lights Went Down” video was made by Brendan Cook, the genius behind Gotye’s “Hearts a Mess” clip.

We’d like to apologise for the delay on the single for download – it was supposed to be ready for download last Tuesday September 8. We can confirm it’s now available for download. Thanks to those fans who notified us.

Expect to hear and see “When the Lights Went Down” everywhere over the coming weeks.
